I’ve known Marilynn Spindler for almost ten years. Not only were we colleagues in the education field, but she was one of the photographers for my wedding! I knew when I hired her in January of 2004, that she was the perfect addition to the team. I needed a seasoned shooter who shared my philosophy on photographing weddings, and I hit the jackpot when I hired Marilynn.
“Shooting weddings is creatively challenging and fulfilling. I get to meet new people and go to different places and they actually pay me for taking photos: One of my favorite things in the whole wide world to do! It's a happy time, and I am making a difference in their lives by documenting that for them in the best possible way I can. It makes me feel fulfilled as an artist and a person.”
A resident of Alexandria, Virginia, Marilynn has two degrees in painting and art education. She taught photography to high school and college students for over a decade. Marilynn fell in love with shooting and printing during her graduate studies. She devotes much of her time to painting in her studio and prides herself as a fine art photographer. I think she’s a fine art photojournalist.
